Urine is oddly useful stuff in a lot of ways, although I'm a little weirded out that it's got kidney cells in it. Did you know special forces use it for a disinfectant? Me, I'd prefer not to pour salty ammonia on an open wound, but I suppose it beats gangrene.
Speaking of alchemy and bioethics, Rebecca, have you ever seen the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? It's pretty much a dramatization of bioethics issues, as well as being a HELL of a good story. Just make sure you watch Brotherhood, not the first series (just called Fullmetal Alchemist); that first adaptation doesn't follow the original comic, instead being written by the notoriously antisemitic 9/11 Truther, Aikawa Sho. Also be prepared for some gory and disturbing images, it's somewhere between PG-13 and R in movie terms.
I have not seen that. I am not a fan of anime but my husband is. I will tell him to check it out.
Foreign stem cell research seems to be doing well. Has Mary Meets Dolly ever covered Rongxiang Xu or MEBO International? He's the researcher working on in situ stem cell treatments.
