That second quote gives a weak argument that actually hurts the case. The problem is not that people are "encouraging gender stereotypes", the problem is that they're deciding who gets born, or not, based on their chromosomes—just like Asia's gendercide abortions, but even more clinical and sterile.
The first quote, though, just...damn. "Worth every penny", all on its own, could've been a joke—but then she reveals she seriously weighs the value of her daughter against that of a new car or a kitchen renovation. At which point, one hopes the interviewer backs away slowly. |
