That second quote gives a weak argument that actually hurts the case. The first quote, though, just...damn. "Worth every penny", all on its own, could've been a joke—but then she reveals she seriously weighs the value of her daughter against that of a new car or a kitchen renovation. At which point, one hopes the interviewer backs away slowly.
