To suggest that we should leave the decision about what is moral scientific research up to the scientists is like suggesting we should leave what constitutes ethical business practices up to corporate CEOs.
Amen! I've also pointed out that their implication that opposition to embryonic stem cell research equate to opposition to all stem cell research is like implying that MADD opposes all driving! No, just as MADD only opposes irresponsible, dangerous, and immoral driving, we only oppose irresponsible, dangerous, and immoral stem cell research.
I have sent Majorityaction.net a letter that also points out that, according to recent reports, the confusion surrounding the difference between adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells is actually hurting the bone marrow donor program. This is direct result of the media and advocacy groups refusing to make the distinction:
