Together we're counting on those embryos to see us through and take some of that weight off our shoulders and set our world right once again.
Supposedly it's prolifers who have a fetus fetish. But for decades prochoicers were saying fetuses were the cause of all the world's ills, that if only we addressed the dreaded fetal scourge we could eliminate poverty, deforestation, crime, and crabgrass. Now it's embryos that are the solution to all the world's ills! Embryos/fetuses: Scourge or salvation? Does it matter? As long as they die, the left is happy.
The thing to point out is that anyone who refers to embryos as mere "cells" either doesn't understand the issue at all, or is trying to mislead others. (And "both" isn't out of the question, either.)
We're all comprised of cells. If they want to get technical, we're just huge masses of mostly carbon. Does that make the human being the moral equivalent of an equivalent lump of coal?
It's my opinion that Diana Degette's entire thesis is a rather outrageous lie. The SciAm interview actually used the term "big antiscience conspiracy" in reference to her opponents on ESC research!
Jen at Conversion Diary sent me over here -- a very nice site! Nice to see another woman posting about science. =) |
