This is strictly a hypothesis. Do you plan to research this now since you've put it out there?
Of course it is simply a hypothesis. What is shocking to me is that while scientists are discussing chemical contraceptives in the water affecting the fertility of fish, no one seems to want to touch the idea that this may also be affecting human male fertility rates. There were several commenters on the infertility article that said the very same thing I did: we need to look at chemical contraceptives as a possible cause no matter how inconvenient or politically incorrect.
I would LOVE it if someone did research and proved this hypothesis wrong. It would mean that thousands of men struggling with the heartbreak of infertility weren't being poisoned by their own water. That would be a good thing. But I am afraid that such a study will never happen because of political correctness and our society's love affair with The Pill.
FWIW, I think soy is a bigger problem-- as it mimics estrogen and it's common to feed large amounts to little boys as soy milk-- but wouldn't discount leftover BC estrogen, either.
I'd be interested in the effect on breast cancer rates. (estrogen feeds cancers) Is it possible my mom has had such an "amazing recovery" from BC because her only water source is a spring, instead of city water? Estrogen promotes weight gain and prevents weight loss-- is this the real cause of the "obesity epidemic"?
I completely agree with your hypothesis. This is why eating a VEGAN diet is so important pre conception. A lot of people may think this is extreme, but it is completely necessary. Our food supply is so contaminated that we all need to start growing our own foods or eating more locally. Buying food from a grocery store can mean buying radioactive food from Japan now for example. While there are natural fertility supplements such as FertilAid for Men, we need to go beyond all this and start nipping the issue in the bud!
