As are you by making statements like "embryo destructive research". This has nothing to do with science and is only pushing your personal political agenda. The statement that "ESCs still have never been used to treat a single patient" is false. Geron is in clinical trials now and there are other instances in India and other countries. See http://is.gd/ebAcf for example.
Dear Jim: You have been lied to so many times by a countryful of money-hungry corrupt scientists that I cannot blame you for being so woefully uninformed.
Geron is a hoax company which has lied about clinical trials ELEVEN TIMES since 2004. When the FDA finally approved a trial in January 2009, a countryful of inept or bribed medical reporters never mentioned the ten previous hoaxes and people like you were suckered into believing it. At the time I said it would not happen, and it did not. Now the same con men have Americans convinced another FDA approval means real people will be treated. They will not--it is all a scam to pump up their stock price (up 40% last Friday/Monday). If you can handle the truth, read the full story at http://www.repairstemcells.org/newsletters/NL080610.htm This article includes a link which describes in great detail every Geron hoax since 2004.
I'm sorry, Jim: do you know something we don't know? Are embryos actually NOT destroyed while their stem cells are being obtained? That would be quite a news flash, and contrary to what people on both sides of the debate already know. I'd address your point about Geron, but I see that others already have.
Regarding Rebecca's comment on the Harkin lies: There is a fresh paper out last week listing dozens and dozens of similar lies by so-called doctors and scientists and, of course, politicians. Quite a job they did digging all these up.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/08/playing_politics_with_stem_cel.html Barbara: 20 years is awfully optimistic, especially after Boston con-man Dr. Daley (ISSCR bigshot) admitted that the better part of this century is not unreasonable to get embryonics to the clinic. |
