One wonders what that patient was told to convince him or her to guinea pig this bit of "research." When I heard the story on the news today my thoughts immediately went to the "Baby Fay" case back in the mid-80's.
It is actually better to use adipose derrived expanded MSC stem cells. Thee have less chance of rejection as they come from the patient's own body and they can be injected in volumes of 2+ million at a time.
Dr. Jean Peduzzi Nelson's, testimony to Congress is a great resource for those who want to know more about the success of adult stem cell therapies - thank you Rebecca.
*FINALLY*. How many thousands of embryos have been thrown out and wasted in the last decade? It's about time this is being tested on someone...
Scientifically speaking, human embryos are human beings, whether or not this is inconvenient to your position, Joe. Your use of the word "wasted" to describe them (as if they're bruised oranges we could have used for juicing) demonstrates the sick, utilitarian mindset that got us here.
